As you know, I have been seeing a local chiropractor and I have some serious issues! And oh my gosh, I now seriously swear by chiropractics. It is amazing and I absolutely love it. On the bad side, I have been getting daily headaches for the past 2 weeks and my neck hurts pretty bad, but Dr. Pochucha reassured me that with the amount of movement my neck has to make, that this is expected and it will pass. And he said just by feeling my neck, he can already tell there has been significant improvement. I cannot wait to see my monthly x-rays!
This week, it was E's turn to visit the chiropracter. He rather enjoyed playing under the table! This kiddo is 15 months and has had about 8 ear infections, and at least 3 of them were pretty bad. This last one he had about a month ago required a rocephin shot while we were in the office and he was put straight on Augmentin. We skipped over Amoxicillian and went straight for a stronger antibiotic! You know its bad when you gotta get a shot of antibiotics on board quickly ! His ear drum was collasping and all pussy. It was really, really bad. So we were instructed to see an ENT for tubes in his ears. I posted about my sadness of having to get tubes in his ears and my awesome bloggie friend Lisa from Fat Chick Fed Up suggested that we try a chiropracter. Use a chiropracter for ear infections? Chiorpracters can fix that? I was intrigued and started to do some research.
And then on Wednesday, I took E to see Dr. Pochucha. We discussed his birthing experience and his health history. He did a physical examination and scanned him with this cool gadget that measures heat, which indicates inflammation. The longer the line, the more inflammation.
As you can see, E has 3 different locations with quite a bit of inflammation. While he was doing the physical examination and before he told me anything, he asked me which ear most often got infected. I replied "its always his right ear." And he then put his hand on E's neck, placed my hand on his hand, then removed his hand so I could feel E's axis bone (at the very top of his neck). His axis bone (or his 2nd vertebrae) is over to the right to far! His little neck is so tight and his lymph nodes on the right are swollen. And he said that explains the ear infections and why the right ear is always worse....CRAZY!! After we finished doing all the diagnostics, Dr. Pochucha did E's first adjustment with this gentle little tool and E was so relaxed. He acted like it felt good!
I cannot describe to you how excited I am to be using chiropractics for E rather than doing tubes in the ears. I am not completely opposed to tubes, but I would rather take a less invasive, holistic approach.
We went back on Thursday, and Dr P and I were discussing E's poops as he was adjusting him. And if you are a parent, you know how important poop is. E has been super constipated lately, and I haven't been able to figure out why. He's getting plenty of liquids, high fiber food, fruits, and veggies. He's not eating anything that should be causing him to be so severely constipated. Dr. P told me that when the spine is misaligned, it disrupts the messages to the particular organ that that specific vertebrae corresponds to (much like my uterus wasn't recieiving a strong enough message because of my misalignment). Well, as you can see in the photo, E has alot of inflammation in his lower back and that is actually what is causing his constipation. Dr. P did another adjustment, this time using his hands rather than the instrument, and E was soooooooo good. He loved it! I was informed that I should see results with the constipation pretty quickly. Lately, we are lucky if E will poop once a day. Prunes have been a common occurrence here the past few weeks. After that morning adjustment, E pooped 3 times that day! Seriously! Chiropractics is amazing! My baby was less fussy too cuz his tummy wasn't hurting! I can't wait to go back for our appointment on Monday and tell Dr P about the results. He has a young kiddo also, so he knows what its like to get excited about poop.... ;) I'm sorry I just dedicated an entire paragraph to my child's bowel movements, but seriously, I cannot believe the results we are seeing with this! And ya know, healthy pooping is part of a healthy lifestyle! :-)
So Lisa, I have to thank you for your advice. You have seriously changed our lives! Chiropractics has become a part of our healthy lifestyle! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
