Made to Crave

Made to Crave.

Right now I am craving air conditioning.  Our heating and cooling unit is not working and it is 85 degrees in our house at 11pm. BLEH! Melting.to.death.

Have you heard of the book Made to Crave?  I've heard lots of great things about it so I finally bought the 21 day devotional and as I did with Body Clutter, I will be sharing with you quotes from each devotion that speak to my heart.  Because these are more like short devotions rather than full chapters, these posts will be much shorter, but I hope that you enjoy it!

God loves you so much that He doesn't want you to stay in a place of defeat.

Isn't that beautiful?  Whatever form of defeat you are facing, God wants something better for you.  When I reflect back on when I had such a negative body image, I realize that all the things I told myself were a result of feeling defeated.  "You are always going to look this way. It's never going to get better.  You are ugly.  You will never be accepted again because of the way you look."  Oh my goodness.  My thoughts were so distorted.   God didn't want that for me.  When I think of a loved one that is in a place in life that leaves them feeling defeated, I hurt for them.  My heart aches for them.  I want whats best for them, and I want to do everything possible to help them get out of that place of defeat.  Sometimes its offering advice.  Sometimes its just listening. Sometimes the only thing you can do is pray.

How much does God hurt for us when we are in a place of defeat?  How much does He want to do everything possible to get us out of that place?  How much does His heart ache for us?

When we get to that place of defeat, it becomes a battle of the heart.

Whenever you feel defeated, remember that God doesn't want that for you.  He loves you.  He wants something better for you.  Rise up out of the defeat knowing that our Heavenly Father is walking beside you and cheering you on :)

Have you ever felt defeated?  If it was weight loss/health related, did you ever feel like the battle was less physical and more emotional/spiritual?  Share in the comments!
